Welcome to the NORTHERN OHIO ARSON SEMINAR. The 49th annual seminar has been centered around the requests of past attendees to the seminar.

Saturday morning, February 24, 2018 will feature a case study that will be led by Investigator Frank Reitmeier, OSFM, "Toledo Line of Duty Death Investigation." This will be a review of the fire that occurred in Toledo Ohio on January 26, 2014 that resulted in the death of Toledo Fire & Rescue Department members, Private Stephen Machinski and Private James Dickman. The review will be presented by Investigator Reitmeier, Detective Deborah Hahn of the Toledo Police Department and Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Simko of the Lucas County Prosecutors Office. This case study will cover the Origin and Cause Investgation, follow up investigation and criminal prosecution.

Saturday afternoon will be the program "Battery Storage Systems and Lithium Ion Batteries." This program will be presented by Tom Bensen and Nick Warner from Bensen Fire & Safety Consulting in Delaware Ohio.

Sunday, February 25 will feature an all-day program touching on a number of topics. "Flashover and Unusual Behaivor and Fire Patterns, Gas Explosions and Electrical Fire Investigation." Our speaker for the day is James (Jamie) Novak of Novak Investigations in Minnesota.

The NORTHERN OHIO ARSON SEMINAR, held at Ashland University's Convocation Center, provides training and education in the field of Fire and Arson Investigation.

Sponsored by the Ohio Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the 2018 Northern Ohio Arson Seminar will be it's 49th meeting.
